Looking

All those people who appear so perfectly together are just like you and me. Layers of grumbles and joy, sanity and crazy, peace and panic, days on autopilot and moments with purpose.

We’re all looking for something.

Sometimes it’s hard to articulate what that “something” is. You know it’s missing when you’ve said yes to lots of things that miss the mark. Yes to more tasks on the heaving to-do list, yes to more work when you’re already drowning, yes to more responsibility when you’re juggling at best, yes to another favour, another meeting, another engagement.

All those yes answers lead to no for you. No time to narrow down what you would like to be doing, no to working out what direction you’re headed, no to relaxed creativity, no to peace and downtime.

When you say “yes” to you (because you matter), you may find what you’re looking for.

These are a few of the items I’ve heard friends, colleagues, clients (and myself) looking for recently:

I’m looking for ….

  • patience
  • a life reset
  • a dozen orphan socks
  • where the fun has gone
  • balance
  • space, some margins in my day
  • acceptance
  • clarity
  • a clean, uncluttered tabletop
  • a way to live and work without rushing
  • a remedy for overwhelm
  • a day of being present
  • a new life
  • some direction, a sign
  • recognition
  • time

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Pause to refill, reset and consider what you’re looking for today. Then give yourself permission to find it.

Let’s go.

Just a minute now
